Have you tried Four 4s?

This is a great activity from Jo Boaler's YouCubed site - a fantastic place for Maths activities for teachers AND students. Check it out!
Using four 4s and different operations we managed to find sums to equal numbers 1-20. As you can see, some were easier to get than others!
It was great to explore and get deeper with our thinking!

Want an idea for a Xmas card?

This morning we created Xmas cards using embroidery thread and coloured card! Our challenges were threading the needle; as some needles had a very small eye, planning where to put the dots for the side of the tree and tying double and sometimes triple knots!

We enjoyed this activity because we think they look really effective! Some of us used a silver sharpie pen to add other effects. Miss Blair got the idea from this blog if you wanted to try yourself: Xmas cards.

Exciting Writing News!

Exciting news!! Emma's 100WC made the Showcase! To check out her writing click here.

Emma has really been working hard to make her writing more descriptive and has used lots of 'dropping in' techniques, e.g. adjectives, changing the opening, changing verbs etc.

Your Deeds Are Your Monuments...

We have been reading the novel, 'Wonder', by R.J.Palacio. We think it's fantastic and today we decided to write our interpretation of Mr Browne's precept:
Your Deeds are your Monuments

What do you think it means? How does it relate to your life or someone you admire?
